Interested in this because of the shifting perception and knowledge of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki in general since the beginning of the USA DVD releases and the Oscar win for 'Spirited Away'. Seems the opening weekend for Howl is down slightly on that previous opening weekend, with the film managing $427k in 36 screens ($449k for Spirited Away on 26 screens in 2002).

I can't remember how many screens Spirited Away was shown on after its' initial week, but Howls moves to more screens to total 200 this coming weekend. The American box office is down it seems, and people may not be as interested in the big screen as they are in DVD these days - sales for DVD not only make more money but shift a hige amount of units; I wonder how the figures compare to the amount of people attending screenings?
