Yes, Hideo Nakata Is A Fool To Himself : Directing USA Remake Of 'The Eye'.

Not even much of a film, the original. Largely seems to be seen as a "beginners" luck film - the Pang Brothers 'The Eye' was reasonable in places, slightly interesting in others, mediocre in most. And now, Nakata has apparently signed to do the American remake. Can't decide: poor decision or wise money-making venture so he can get out quick, go back to Japan and do something decent again. It has been about seven years since the original Ring and he still doesn't seem able to pick up a decent project off the back of it... come of Hideo Nakata, you're better than remakes!

This story is all over the place, so no particular source for it...

Putting The Eye down to beginners luck overlooks Bangkok Dangerous and One Take Only (which was finished after The Eye, but mostly shot before) ... I really like it, myself.

I'd much rather see Nakata doing original work than remakes but the guy's been pretty open that he wants to make films in Hollywood and it looks as though these are a fairly easy in for him ... he's supposed to be making a film in the J Horror anthology series, which will be hs first original thing in a while ... At least they hired someone who'll understand the material and do a good job of it, though. I'd much rather have Nakata directing this than see it get the Oldboy or Shall We Dance treatment ...

I watched "The Ring 2" a week after it opened and i was outraged! In the beginning when the Volkswagen gets smashed is very disturbing. I am a huge VW fan and that just ruined the whole movie for me. I just thought you should know that...
