Matthew Vaughn to Helm X Men 3.

by Todd Brown, March 14, 2005 5:12 PM

Aint it Cool is reporting that Guy Ritchie producer and Layer Cake director Matthew Vaughn has been signed up to helm the third X Men movie. It's an interesting choice, to say the least ... Vaughn's got nothing in his past to suggest he can handle special effects, but then neither did Bryan Singer when he did the first one ... I assume that this means Vaughn's Man From U.N.K.L.E. remake has been pushed back ...

I thought Singer was confirmed for the third one as well? Clearly not. Oh well -- the continuity would have been nice, but risk = reward, I'm told.

Singer was slated for the third until he pissed off the studio by signing with a rival to make Superman ...

I can't wait to see Layer Cake. Having said that I'm not a fan of the first 2 X-flicks so I couldn't care less who was helming the third.

Is Layer Cake that good? Isn't it just a Guy Ritchie knock off?

You can't say knock off, considering Vaughn produced Ritchie's films, and also because it's based on a novel. My DVD will be in next week.
