Remember the name Paddy Considine, because I absolutely guarantee that you will be hearing it a lot more often. Considine has been turning up in smaller roles for a little while now but I didn't particularly notice him until catching My Summer of Love at the 2004 Toronto Film Festival and being utterly blown away by his performance. I was obviously not the only one as he picked up a supporting role in Ron Howard's Cinderella Man immediately after.

Word on the street is that his performance in Shane Meadows' Dead Man's Shoes - which Considine also co-wrote - is even better and based on the trailer I can definitely say it's a good load more frightening. You want intensity? The man's got intensity ... you can hit the official site and trailer here. And you should. Right now.

This is one of those odd little films that has met with immense acclaim in its home country - the film is up for a stack of BAFTAs including best picture and best actor for Considine - but been completely ignored everywhere else. Well those of us outside of England, at least those of us with multi-region equipment, are finally getting our chance to check it out as the UK DVD has been announced for March 21st. Check out the trailer at the link above, then you can find the DVD here.

I saw this film in the cinema in the UK and absolutely adored it, there are a number of outstanding performances and the direction is spot-on.
I even managed to purchase the graphic novel signed by the artist! I certainly recommend this DVD to everyone.

Amazon UK's got Romeo Brass for a mere five pounds at the moment ... I added that on to my order ... anybody seen Once Upon A Time In the Midlands? Very mixed reviews, but it's got a great cast ...

Oh ... and for those who remember the thread in the forum, there's another Requiem for a Dream soundtrack sighting in the Dead Man's Shoes trailer ... man, that stuff gets around ...
