Well, my copies of 2046 have braved the Christmas mail rush and what will most likely be the coldest day we experience here in Toronto all year and have arrived safe and sound. I've just given the two discs a quick scan so I can't comment too much but I can confirm the early rumor that the 'Making of 2046' feature on the second disc does include English subtitles. That appears to be the only one of the features on the second disc to include subtitles of any kind - the disc one 'Databank' is also available in English - but it's also the only thing on disc two that really requires them.
So ... if you've been wavering on which version of this to pick up, go for the two disc set.
Great news about the extra features! But I'm really curious about the video and audio quality of this release. Strangly, I haven't been able to find one review of this release yet.
I picked up this set earlier in the week, and let me say: wow. The quality is fantastic, audio is clear, image is sharp and colors are beautiful. As if that weren't enough the packaging is equally beautiful and the postcard set it came with is damn pretty. Solid disc and well worth the wait.
I'll be reviewing it on my site within a week. I'm gradually watching all of the discs I have stacked on my coffee table, but these next few weeks are going to be really busy, so it's a miracle if I can watch/review anything!
