TIFF Report: Andrew McPhillips Talks BLOOD WILL TELL

by Todd Brown, September 15, 2007 7:01 AM

Canada has been exceptionally well represented in the short film programs at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. Madame Tutli Putli, Loudly, Death Unties, and Found Objects already receiving much love in these pages and animator Andrew McPhillip's sci-fi horror animation Blood Will Tell fully deserves more of the same. It's a remarkably textured, haunting work with music by Sigur Ros, one that combines old photographic techniques with aliens and the fear of medical epidemic. I had the chance to sit and talk with McPhillips today and he proved remarkably articulate about not only his own work but the state of animation in general.
