The UNDERWORLD Reboot Is On Its Way

Andrew Mack, Associate Editor, News
There are some reboots you did not know you needed until they are already happening.

Lakeshore Enteratinment is rebooting the Underworld franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The first Underworld film dropped in 2003 and three sequels emerged in 2006, 2009, and 2012.

Lakeshore has hired Priest scribe Cory Goodman to pen the script. Do you want a reminder of how well that film was received? He has also written the script for The Last Witch Hunter, which stars Vin Diesel, and is in pre-production right now.

No word if Kate Beckinsale will assume the role that gave rise to her stardom or make any sort of appearance.

It's too soon to reboot Underworld. I think you need about a generation before you reboot a franchise.

Then again, we have a Hollywood that's too scared to think of creative ideas (the original Underworld was made on a shoestring budget with a lot of non-traditional funding sources) so they essentially take the older ideas and drive them into the ground.

  • They can eat my anus. This is as stupid an idea as I have seen all year.

The only series in need of a reboot is resident evil. Paul w.s. Anderson hasn't made a decent movie since Event Horizon.

Underworld has becoming my guilty pleasure. Kind of disappointed my loyal following of this series is getting the "sucks to be you" treatment. Is it even worth following franchises anymore when it'll probably get rebooted in 5 years?

A lot of IP's don't need rebooting just the boot would do or a good kicking.
