PiFan 2014: Preview Part 2 - World Fantastic Cinema
With just over a week until PiFan, the biggest celebration of genre cinema anywhere in Asia, Team Twitch is barely able to contain our excitement. So instead of sweating and fidgeting uncomfortably, we're putting our anticipation to practical use and previewing some of our hot tips and most anticipated titles for the fest. Today it is my turn to dissect the ungainly World Fantastic Cinema programme - an orgy of 44 titles from all corners of the globe that makes up the backbone of the PiFan showcase.
There are definitely a few I can recommend right off the bat, namely Jermaine Clement and Taika Waititi's uproarious vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows (which Ryland reviewed here), Jerome Sable's eccentric, ambitious slasher musical Stage Fright (reviewed by Zach here), and Jang Joon Hwan's belated follow-up to Save The Green Planet, Hwayi: A Monster Boy (which Pierce shared his thoughts on here).
But now let's get on to the films I'm most looking forward to!
