BANG BANG Teaser Gives You Abs, Explosions, And Footjets(?) Aplenty!

Fox Star Studios in India gave us what could turn out to be the most ridiculous teaser of 2014 today with the first footage from Siddarth Anand's Bang Bang! The film is an official remake of the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz film Knight and Day, which is remarkable in that they actually bothered to get remake rights for a film. Headlining Bang Bang are Hrithik Roshan, who has proven his action chops in films like Dhoom 2, and Katrina Kaif, on whom a Barbie doll is based.

Director Anand has a couple of solid Bollywood rom-coms under his belt with Bacchna Ae Haseeno and Salaam Namaste, however, his action skills are as yet untested unless you count his "cars turning left" opus, Ta Ra Rum Pum. I really like Bacchna Ae Haseeno, though, it's a smart, modern romantic comedy that in itself is kind of a rip on High Fidelity, but with a decidedly self-referential Bollywood slant. If he can imbue these characters with that kind of emotion, this could actually be worth checking out.

Hrithik Roshan is one of Bollywood's great actors who also happens to be a movie star, quite often performers in Hindi films are one or the other. He has come a long way over the last two decades, and his performances in films like Jodhaa Akbar, Guzaarish, and even revenge thriller Agneepath have proved that he can carry a project almost singlehandedly, and with Katrina Kaif by his side, he might have to this time. Thankfully, there is plenty of insane action in this trailer to make me forget that she's even in the thing.

Seriously, what are those aqua foot jet pack things Hrithik is rockin', and where do I get some? Bang Bang opens in theaters worldwide October 2nd.

I wasn't a huge fan of the original, but this remake looks fun. Better title, too.
