SKIPTRACE: Harlin, Chan, And A Little Bingbing Come Together In Action Comedy

Andrew Mack, Contributing Writer
I was just thinking the other day, "Man. It has been some time since I saw Jackie Chan get paired up with a wise-cracking Gweilo". And then it got me to thinking, "Man. It has been a while since I saw Seann William Scott get paired up with an action star who could whip his ass six ways from Sunday for being such a wise-cracker".

And lo and behold the universe must have been listening, because the following announcement came to the world (i.e. our email account) yesterday via press release:

RENNY HARLIN TO DIRECT ACTION COMEDY "SKIPTRACE" STARRING JACKIE CHAN AND SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT

To which I said to myself, "Okay. That could be a lot of fun. But if there is anything that previous Jackie Chan/Gweilo action comedies have taught me is that there also has to be an attractive Asian women attached to the project". Again, the universe responded.

Skiptrace follows a Hong Kong detective Bennie Black (Chan), who has been tracking a dangerous crime boss, Victor Wong, for over a decade. When Bennie's beautiful young niece Bai (Fan Bingbing) gets into trouble with Wong's crime syndicate, he comes to the rescue and must track down the only man who can help her - a fast-talking American gambler named Connor Watts (Scott) who is also on the run from the mob. The unlikely pair embarks on a hilarious adventure from the wind swept dunes of the Gobi Desert to the rocky spires of the Huangshan Mountains.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. Why yes, Fan Bingbing is very attractive. (More of her to come, just you wait.) Very.

Then you add to this mix the combustible direction of Renny Harlin and how could you possibly lose? Production is set to begin the middle of August. Newly launched group BLOOM is handling international sales.
Around the Internet:

White man saves the day again?

  • Brad Martin

Renny Harlin? Wow, it's going to suck.

Chan should do SHANGHAI DAWN, DRUNKEN MASTER 3 then retire.

That recent POLICE STORY was just dire.
