Ochiai Masayuki To Direct New JU-ON Movie
It was announced last Wednesday during a press conference at Tokyo's Akagi Shrine that Ochiai Masayuki (Infection, Hypnosis, horrible 2008 remake of Shutter) will be responsible for scripting and directing the next installment in the Ju-on (The Grudge) horror franchise. Japanese model and actress Sasaki Nozomi will play the lead role.
The picture will be released in Japan on June 28 under the name Ju-on: Owari no Hajimari (literally The Grudge: The Beginning of the End). Filming begins tomorrow.
An elementary school teacher named Yui visits the home of a boy named Toshio Saeki who's been absent from school for a long period of time. When she arrives, she re-lives the horrific tragedy which occurred in the Saeki household 10 years earlier. A cardboard box left in a closet holds the key to revealing a long-hidden truth.
Ju-on originally started as a low-budget, made-for-TV film series. Its huge popularity sparked a wave of more and less successful sequels and remakes both in Japan and in Hollywood.
