With films like Another or The Kirishima Thing Hashimoto Ai proved that she's one of the most promising Japanese actresses of the young generation. Since her big screen debut in Confessions in 2010 she's been delivering high quality performances, yet she's still waiting for that breakthrough moment. Now she gets her big chance.

Based on a popular manga of the same name, Little Forest revolves around Ichiko (Hashimoto Ai), a city girl who decides to return to her peaceful and quiet hometown in order to reassess her priorities and life decisions. Here's a short synopsis via AsianWiki:

Ichiko lived in a big city, but goes back to her small hometown Komori, located on a mountain in the Tohoku region. She is self-sufficient. Ichiko gains energy living among nature and eating foods she makes from seasonal ingredients.

Igarashi Daisuke's Little Forest is told in four separate chapters: summer, autumn, winter and spring. Directed by Mori Junichi, the live-action adaptation will be released as two double-feature films. Little Forest: Summer and Autumn will premiere in Japan on August 30, 2014, while Little Forest: Fall and Spring is slated for February 14, 2015.
