Watch Samuel L. Jackson In The First Live-Action KITE Trailer

Upcoming movie Kite is based on Yasuomi Umetsu's anime that is known for its graphic depictions of sex and violence. Samuel L. Jackson plays Karl Aker, a corrupt detective and India Eisley (The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Underworld: Awakening) plays Sawa, a young girl who is out to track down those responsible for killing her father with the help of Aker. Callan McAuliffe (I Am Number Four, The Great Gatsby) co-stars.

Ralph Ziman (Gangster's Paradise: Jerusalema, The Zookeeper) took over as director after the death of David R. Ellis, who worked with Jackson on Snakes On A Plane

Kite was filmed in Johannesburg and the first trailer is embedded below.

Looks like something JCVD would be in, filmed in some anonymous old Eastern European city.

Here's what the project looked like about 5 years ago:

Script by Josh Ruben and the Aguilera Brothers. To shoot in Tokyo, Japan, in English, with international talent.
    Director: TBA
Cast: Vincent Cassel, Vincent Gallo, Japanese stars
    Budget $6m Location: Tokyo

  • Wow. That changed.

  • moneenerd

I must be the only one who remembers Kite being fairly cheesy and ridiculous in the first place.

  • Bos

This is so weird because the budget looks very tiny but an actor like Samuel L. Jackson is involved.

Anyone knows the budget? I'm curious!

    Btw i liked it

If this wasn't supposed to be based on a great anime, it would ,at best, be mediocre.

  • Omar Hauksson

Wow, this looks terrible. Like really terrible.

  • Berserker

    looks like crap.

  • UGE_plex

Looks like a fun movie for those who don't know Kite, but not a good movie. And disappointing for those who know the anime it's based on. Though I suspect fans of the actors involved will give it some momentum. Reminds me a little of District B13 in style, which was a movie I did enjoy, but isn't a compliment based on what I'd expect of a live-action Kite movie. owell.

Also, 30 second ads to see a clip? Just gonna watch it elsewhere next time.
