EXCLUSIVE: Third Window Films Add LESSON OF EVIL And GREATFUL DEAD To 2014 Lineup
Third Window Films have acquired two pieces of cult cinema to be added to their 2014 lineup of Japanese and South Korean films that already includes comedies, dramas, mockumentaries, thrillers and more.
The first acquisition is Miike Takashi's Lesson Of Evil, which Third Window Films is aiming to have a limited theatrical run before releasing it on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD. It has been a favorite at international films festivals and our Asian Editor James Marsh says that the film is one "for those who enjoy their humor jet black and their violence extreme".
The second is Uchida Eiji's Greatful Dead, a relatively lesser known independent film described as a "totally off-the-wall mix of black comedy and strangeness". It has played at Raindance in the UK and Fantastic Festival in the US, and James calls it "dark, bloody, unflinchingly brutal, yet also laugh-out-loud funny, genuinely touching and with a profound social conscience."
With their varied and exciting lineup for 2014, Third Window Films are hoping to continue "providing the link between Asia and the West with both the big and small, the known and unknown and the best of Asian cinema in the UK".
Here's their lineup (so far):
