Tony Jaa Goes To Hollywood, Joins FAST AND FURIOUS 7

Simon de Bruyn, Contributing Writer
Looks like Dominic Toretto and his crew should be extra careful about how they treat baby elephants, with the news that Thai martial arts superstar Tony Jaa has joined Fast And Furious 7. Directed by James Wan, Fast 7 picks up right where Fast 6 left off, with a massive cliffhanger involving yet another action superstar, Jason Statham.

Jaa's part in the film is unknown but the role is his first in a US studio production. Whether or not it will also mark his English-language debut is yet to be seen, as his upcoming Western A Man Will Rise was expected to have some English as it co-stars Dolph Lundgren. Fast 7 will start shooting in September as part of an incredibly quick turnaround to meet its July 2014 US release date.

I laugh if they cast him as Han's brother out for revenge and he fights Jason Statham to get it. That'd be pretty damn funny.

I wouldn't be surprised because Hollywood thinks all Asian races are the same. Haha! :)

And for Fast and Furious 8, Iko Uwais and Julie Estelle. YAY!

are you kidding ? Tony jaa is the No 1 Martial art actor in the world currently . Hollywood make a really wise call to join him with them, Asian have produced the best fighters of all time like bruce lee, jackie chan, jet lee, donnie yen.. they are not cardboard heroes like in Hollywood the only have the technology, please find some films of above mentioned actors.

    Can he even speak english?

  • ricksomchai

He can, he has posted about all this on his Facebook page then also says he will be joining Vin and Walker with Statham as the bad guy.. that sounds to me like he will be a good guy maybe even a new part of the crew as a driver... He also said he has been working on his English for the role.

  • He's been VERY reluctant to cross over into Hollywood as a villain in the past (he was offered a villain part in Die Hard 4) so that makes good sense to me.

man its only a matter of time Iko and Jaa going to take the world by storm, Im so happy they both are doing so well, the next gen MA stars are on their way im extremely lucky to watch this all happen in my life time, any connection to the Raid 2 Todd?

  • Yep, pretty much the exact same involvement as last time. I've seen a bunch of footage already (about 40 minutes of action sequences) and am just waiting for Gareth to stop bumming around London (heh) and send us the assembly cut so we can start getting into the brass tacks of the edit.

Next target: Break Johnny Nguyen and Marko Zaror into the general market ...

Saw him make an appearance when we was promoting The Protector in NYC. There was a translator but I think he could understand and respond to basic things.
