THE RAID 2: BERANDAL Wraps Principal Photography

Todd Brown, Founder and Editor
See that haggard looking man hold the film slate? That's The Raid writer-director Gareth Huw Evans, the slate he's holding being for the final shot of principal photography on upcoming sequel The Raid 2: Berandal. The seven month production cycle now complete, things now move along into post production with completion of the film expected in early 2014.

How to become street teamer in USA for this film? I try to contact Sony but there's no contact message on the Sony web.

  • hutch

Good news. And Good job, I'm sure.

Todd...any chance whatsoever we can get an early cut at Fantastic Fest???

  • Nope. Pretty much no chance it'd even have foley or anything on it then. Waaaaaaaaay too rough at that point to let it out in public.

Todd, do you have any updates as to the development of the remake of the original? I am sincerely looking forward to it based on previous discussions about the potential cast and I wonder if I should temper my expectations. I know that's a sore subject for most Twitch followers, but I embrace the concept with open arms if it means more quality on-screen fistifcuffs from superb martial artists.

  • Nothing firm on the remake. Script is more or less locked, research underway on potential shooting locations and discussions happening about potential directors. Once director is locked we'll start having serious conversations about cast.

On the trailer issue, that'll ultimately be dependent on release date. The film has sold for distribution everywhere so we (as producers / sales agents) are pretty much beholden to the distributors on that front. Promotions are in their hands once they pick up the rights. I'd be surprised personally if there was any sort of trailer before things are through post as they'll want to have all the polished footage to choose from. We're not making any sort of sales reel as we don't need to sell it. But if Sony or the other distribs want to go red-band they'll have LOTS to choose from.

Bravo to Gareth, cast and crew, and all external factors involved in this production. Highly anticipating seeing the art your labor has wrought.

I wonder if this will be a PG-13?

  • Mad_Dog_Yayan

Seriously, if this is PG-13, then the MPAA's standard level of violence must have fallen down a lot

  • Heh. Not even close.

  • arturo

Ok so when will we expect a red band trailer? Along with some cool character posters?

  • alibolong

    how can this be?
