We Have The Treasure: A FIELD IN ENGLAND, First Trailer

Peter Martin, Managing Editor

The first trailer for Ben Wheatley's A Field in England looks very much like its title indicates: A field. In England. But, clearly, something more is going on than merely a search for buried treasure.

The official synopsis gives a hint:

England during the English Civil War. A small group of deserters flee from a raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured by two men: O'Neil and Cutler. O'Neil (Michael Smiley), an alchemist, forces the group to aid him in his search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field. Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.

A Field in England will open in England on July 5, simultaneously on free TV, VOD, in theaters and on DVD. Drafthouse Films has picked up U.S. distribution rights, so here's hoping it hits the colonies not too long after that.

This looks so good. Cannot wait to pick it up on DVD/Blu/however it is released here. Seeing this and the new Jodorowsky trailer this morning, made my day.
