Trailer Alert: BOMBAY TALKIES Gathers Bollywood's Brightest Lights

J Hurtado, Contributing Writer
Bombay Talkies is a project that I'd heard about in passing, but never really paid much attention to until now. The film is a collaborative work between several of the highest profile directors and performers in Bollywood, and it actually looks like it is worth checking out.
India's finest directors: Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee have come together to tell you a story like never before. A film about love, sorrow, pain and desire. A film to celebrate the emotion of Cinema. Bombay Talkies: Releasing this May.
We've got a pair of big name mainstream directors in Karan Johar (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name is Khan) and Zoya Akhtar (Luck By Chance, Zindagi Na Milegi  Dobara) teamed up with two of India's biggest independents in Anurag Kashyap (Black Friday, Dev D, Gangs of Wasseypur) and Dibakar Banerjee (Khosla Ka Ghosla, Love, Sex, Aur Dhokla, Shanghai) taking on tales of love and devotion. I've spotted several major Bollywood stars in the trailer as well, big name movie stars like Rani Mukherjee, Katrina Kaif, are paired with some lower profile character actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui (my favorite working Indian actor) and Randeep Hooda.

The trailer looks good, but it's this collection of talent that has me most interested. Whereas I'm mostly immune to the charms of Karan Johar's weepfests, the other three consistently make great films, and that's enough to get me in the door.

Bombay Talkies is due in theaters worldwide May 3rd.
