Megan Fox Is This Generation's April O'Neil

The Michael Bay produced, Jonathan Liebsman directed version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is still happening. Dear God, it is still happening...

The proof that all our nightmares are in fact coming very, very true is that casting is now underway... although in this case perhaps it is someone's dream coming true as Bay confirmed via his Twitter and Blog earlier today that Megan Fox will be this generation's April O'Neil. Yes, yes, I'm sure plenty of you are now wondering if she will be wearing that banana-yellow suit from the 80s cartoon. Well, don't put it past them.

Being a pretty diehard Turtle fan and all, you can tell I am over the moon for this project. Hardy har har. So what's the rub you may ask?

Some major set-backs occurred last year when Paramount asked for script adjustments after long-time fans bemoaned the transformation of their beloved teenaged mutants into all-out outer space aliens. Now it must be stated while the Turtles' original comic book origin carries some ties to outer space, the turtles themselves have never in fact come from outer space. As it stood, the project was put on the back burner and assumed by the most hopeful amongst us that it would all but fizzle and die there. Oh, how naive we were to think that the Mighty Bay would give up at the mere bequest of an entire franchise's fan base. What damn fools we were... But hey now, it appears for the moment that both Teenage and Mutant are back in the title so that's a plus, right?

As for Ms. Fox, I wouldn't put it past her for actually being a TMNT fan of some kind (she's the right age for it and has talked about her love of comic books), so let's assume she'll do something with the role.

And now let's take a moment to remember the former big screen versions of April: Judith Hoag and Paige Turco.

Around the Internet:
  • ninja pizza

your not april!!! take off April's clothes right NOW ms.Fox! lol

  • I can't stand her. they better dye her hair red and fix her horrendous thumbs with cgi

  • Patmos

Dear God, when will his middle age crisis end? In Transformers he was practically licking her with the camera. Why is this even news?

  • hutch

The banana suit is the LEAST of our concerns.

  • TurtlePower!

It will be mediocre at best, like everything else put out by Platinum Dunes.
