Louis C.K. Joining Next David O. Russell Pic?

Andrew Mack, Contributing Writer
Well this is certainly compelling news. Stand-up Louis C.K. is currently in talks to star in an upcoming project from David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, The Fighter, I Heart Huckabees). The multi-talented comedian/actor/director/writer/producer joins an already impressive cast:

The period drama, which already stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper,Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams, begins production next month.

Penned by Eric Singer (The International), the film centers on con artist Mel Weinberg who worked with the FBI in a far-reaching corruption case that stretched from Atlantic City to Washington, D.C. The Louie actor will play an FBI agent.

This "far-reaching corruption case" was the Abscam sting operation conducted by the FBI in the 70s and 80s; a number of public officials were arrested for accepting bribes. We will just have to wait and see how much screen time C.K. will get alongside this lineup, but it's definitely encouraging to see him take on these more dramatic roles. He has shown himself more than capable at handling the serious stuff by continually writing such moments into his own multi-layered and extremely effective show, Louie.
