Magnet Releasing will soon bring director Ching Siu-Tung's The Sorcerer And The White Snake - starring Jet Li - to US shores with a VOD release on January 3 and theatrical run starting February 8, and while we're told there will be a new US trailer bowing tomorrow Twitch has gotten an early look at the official US artwork.

Action director Ching Siu-Tung helms this fantasy film based on an old Chinese legend about an herbalist who falls in love with a thousand-year-old White Snake disguised as a woman. Jet Li stars as a sorcerer who discovers her true identity and battles to save the man's soul.

I don't know what it is about Jet Li's recent flicks. He doesn't seem to be doing much high-paced martial arts combat in his films these days. He had about 15 minutes of good action in "The Expendables 2." I was nodding off when I watched the HK 3D blu-ray (the one that expanded the aspect ratio to 1:78:1 and remastered the color) of "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" on my 46-inch 3D TV. The plot was incomprehensible and the action was slow and predictable. I just feel like they're copying anime action scenes where there's a blue screen behind one character, and a red screen behind the other. And they just leap at each other in slow motion.

Yes, Jet Li is older than he used to be during his Yuen-Woo Ping & Tsui Hark collaborations, but Jackie Chan is older than him yet he still does dangerous stunts and high-paced fight sequences. Yes I know Chan uses stunt doubles and wire support but not as much as Li!

I have to agree, Jet Li seems to have lost interest a bit, his performances in Sorcerer and the White Snake and Flying Swords are sleepy at best. At least his 2-minute fight scene in The Expendables 2 (15 minutes is a big overstatement) was punchy and fun. After the one-two punch of The Warlords and Ocean Heaven, I was expecting Jet Li to start a new kind of career, more challenging acting-wise and more down-to-earth martial arts-wise...
Oh well, at least his next film reportedly has him fighting Wu Jing and Collin Chou in an action comedy.

On the strength of the trailer alone .I think I'll just wait for the porn version .

I understand why they put Jet Li front and center obviously, but this was really Eva Huang's movie.
