Japanese Teaser for STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS Delivers More Bangs!
In this current trend of releasing teasers for trailers of upcoming movies, Paramount has released the first real taste of its big budget sci-fi sequel Star Trek: Into Darkness. Now, even though it runs over a minute, this is apparently not the official trailer. That will be released on 17 December, apparently in front of The Hobbit. What we got here is just an announcement video about the forthcoming teaser to the forthcoming movie.
Whichever way you look at it, this new video appears to be a perfectly formed trailer, featuring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and the rest of the Enterprise crew looking all tense & angsty (the title is "Into Darkness" after all) but more importantly, we get the always awesome and in this case rather menacing Benedict Cumberbatch booming over the whole thing as the villain. And judging by what we're seeing here, there's a real Khan vibe to what he's saying and what he's doing - namely tracking down Jim Kirk for a spot of vengeance.
Eagle-eyed Ryan Gallagher over at CriterionCast.com has spotted that the Japanese release of this pre-teaser announcement video thingy is in fact longer than the US version, so if you can handle a few subtitles over the barrage of images of screams and explosions, then we heartily recommend that's the version you check out. Either way, things are not looking good for Kirk & friends. By which I obviously mean, they're looking pretty spectacular.
