First Horrific Footage for THE HOST 2 [UPDATED With More Footage]

[UPDATE:  More brief moments of monster madness via Macrograph 2012 showreel, starting at 0.27 and 3.00.  Check it out below.]

No beating around the bush here! A clip of the long-awaited Korean horror flick The Host 2 goes straight for the jugular with the hungry creature wreaking havoc upon an unsuspecting family, tearing up a moving truck, and then chasing two helpless children for a quick snack. Oh my, I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of these kids when the shit hits the fan.

The CG effects were produced domestically by Macrograph, the VFX company behind R2B: Return to Base (aka Soar Into the Sun), A Chinese Ghost Story and Stephen Chow's upcoming Journey to the West.

No word yet on the release date. You'll find the video, containing the clip and a visual breakdown of the shot, embedded below.
Around the Internet:
  • Marcel Samson

She even resembles the girl from the first film a bit (though that might be because of the outfit). Looks good though! Although it's amazing the mutated creature looks exactly the same as in the first movie. Twins? ;)

  • AryMonteiroJr

freaking LOVE the first one but, is Mr Joon-Ho Bong involved with this sequel?

  • Al Young

I should have pointed this out earlier but its unclear if the video is the actual footage from the film itself or is its just test footage/demo reel, used for proof of concept to attract backers. Either way, I impress with the level of quality and it really holds up with the previous film that was outsource to California-based company The Orphanage.

  • TheAngryInternet

It was identified as test footage (테스트 영상) when it appeared on Korean sites a few weeks back.

  • I loved loved loved The Host. I will definitely be seeing this. I hope they'll be able to keep it fresh.

  • Billy

Hey, there's a huge monster smashing stuff, let's keep driving towards it. -_-

  • stallionweasel

Why did he keep driving towards it? he had a good forty feet to slam on the brakes and he literally just cruises up to giant beast that is likely going to kill them.

  • Daniel Alvarez

I didn't like the first one, but I will check out the sequel. I will admit that clip was pretty intense.

  • Gopal Natarajan

Dunno. The first film was rather over-rated. This looks like more of the same.

  • Ocean

    Over-rated? How?

  • Gopal Natarajan

Overrated as in it wasn't anywhere near as good as the hype-machines made it out to be, IMO. It had solid monster movie elements, but the actual story underlying the whole affair (the family) was less than plausible and the characters were unlikable. I guess that was it - the family just didn't pass muster on the credibility index. Taken together, the film didn't seem to justify all the good press it got. Granted, this was possibly a reflection on the sorry state of monster movies in general at that point, but the film still wasn't all that.

  • Ozimov

oh man I got a DOMINO header.. I need to come back later

  • derek c reilly

    YES

  • Awesome! Thou I don't like the idea of the movie going the same way again (kidnapped girl, family on the rescue) and the clip makes it look like that.
