Retro Teaser For Paul Schrader's THE CANYONS

Todd Brown, Founder and Editor
Indie maverick genius or a self indulgent wank? It's hard to imagine critical responses to Paul Schrader's upcoming The Canyons varying too greatly from either of those two poles. Written by Bret Easton Ellis, crowd funded on Kickstarter and boasting an odd cast of Lindsay Lohan, porn star James Deen and director Gus Van Sant, The Canyons has just released a new teaser with a deliberate 1950s vibe. By which I mean they overlaid some fake film grain.

THE CANYONS is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20′s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.
Sorry, Paul, you aint getting nominated for this, either. Check out the teaser below.

At least Deen gets to continue his streak of wrapping his hands around the throat of every girl he's in a scene with. Ugh. What a gross spectacle. I do feel badly for Lindsey Lohan, though -- she really did have talent but I don't see a clean-up/come-back in her future. Parents should be ashamed.
