Jamie Foxx In Talks To Play SPIDER-MAN 2 Villain

According to a report over at Variety, sources close to the publication are saying that Jamie Foxx is in talks to play the villain in the next Spider-Man film.

Sources also told Variety that Foxx would play Electro, and Foxx later tweeted, "Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well."

Electro is the alter ego of Max Dillon, an enemy of Spider-Man who gains the ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man #9" in February 1964.

In "The Amazing Spider-Man's" post-credit sequence, set inside Dr. Curt Connors' cell at an asylum, the Lizard is approached by a mysterious, shadowy figure (Michael Massee) who asks if Peter Parker knows the truth about his father. Lightning features prominently in the scene, prompting auds to speculate that Electro would be featured in the sequel.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are onboard to return, with Shailene Woodley in talks to join the cast as well. Marc Webb is set to return to direct.

Perhaps the studio felt bad after the Donald Glover for Peter Parker campaign yielded no results? I kid, I kid. And they can't use Black Lightning because he is a DC character. Or did Sony just gave anyone planning to use that character in a future DC universe film the finger? Big time. But seriously, after The A-Meh-zing Spider-man, adding some star power should help.

The Lizard was the 2nd only other villain to survive a movie against Spider-man haha

When will Hollywood realize that Jamie fox doesn't have any talent?

who cares what color will Electro have. If they get a good story behind it and that the character is well written I think Foxx can do a good job as long as he keeps that ego of his in check (Heard he's got the better-than god ego going for him on sets).

I think Electro would be a great second vilain for the next chapter. Oh and what I like about this new reboot is the fact that they didn't kill the vilain. In the first series they killed Green Goblin pretty quickly, ok he did die in the comics but still it took years for him to die. Then they killed off Doc Oc, then killed Venom and Harry, and Sandman looked liked he became a good guy in the end.. WTF!?! While they were two good films, I always hate the way they kill off the vilains. I mean why? Lock them up as they did with Lizard, that's great 'cause if you need them again, they're there.. Just like Nolan did with Scarecrow.

Hope this second part will be good.

What I don't get is that Marvel keeps cranking out these movies about Superheros, when all the audience really cares about is the Villain. Here's an idea; make a movie about the Villain! I realize this was attempted with Mega Mind a few years ago, but that wasn't exactly an established character. Why not establish the dark side of the Marvel universe just as they did the heroic side? Make a movie about Magneto, Venom, Norman Osbourne, King Pin... Hell, even Morbius would make a cool movie. If they fleshed out the villains with the same respect they do the heroes, then these "vs." style films would hold a hell of a lot more weight.

  • Spider-Man is controlled by Sony, not Marvel.
