Dustin Nguyen Rolls Cameras On ONCE UPON A TIME IN VIETNAM

Todd Brown, Founder and Editor
It was all the way back in December of 2007 that we first wrote about Monk On Fire, a picture described as an Eastern Western with super powered motor bike riding kung fu monks written and to be directed by Dustin Nguyen. I had the chance to read it shortly afterwards and ambitious didn't even begin to describe it ... this was large scale filmmaking, loaded with impressive set design and large scale battle sequences. How would Nguyen ever get this set up within the fledgling Vietnamese industry, as he hoped?

Years later, Nguyen has smartly turned his part as the villain in The Rebel into a thriving acting career in Vietnam and then gone even further, establishing himself as a highly successful local producer and director and now the Monk is back. Nguyen has just launched principal photography on Once Upon A Time In Vietnam, and while the title has changed this is indeed the same project and we'll be seeing our biker monks soon.

And, yes, for the keen eyed among you, the director of photography is Wych Kaosayananda, director of Ballistic: Ecks Versus Sever.

Sounds very entertaining, and I like Dustin Nguyen so this could be something to look forward too, thanks Mr Brown.
