Ready or Not, JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Coming in 2015

Peter Martin, Managing Editor

The summer of 2015 will henceforth be known as the official season of competing superhero team movies. Warner Bros. hopes to release Justice League in the same summer that Disney and Marvel will release The Avengers 2, according to Los Angeles Times. Now all they have to do is finalize the script, hire a director, cast the actors, and shoot the thing next year.

The studio will release Man of Steel, their Superman reboot, next summer, but was forced to hold up on their other plans due to a legal case brought by the heirs of Joe Shuster, who co-created the comic book character. With that cleared up yesterday in favor of Warner Bros., it's full speed ahead for Justice League.

Disney has staked a claim on the first weekend of May 2015 for the sequel to The Avengers, which kicked off this summer on the same weekend, but otherwise the summer is fairly open for live-action blockbusters so far. The concern, of course, is that the studio will press forward no matter if the script is good or not.

With Christopher Nolan declining to produce the picture, the speculation turns to who will be the guiding creative force behind Justice League and its planned spin-off movies. And which DC Comics characters will make the final cut for the movie version?

there's only ... 3 filmmakers that could make this movie work just by jumping into the full DC universe. Cameron and Del Toro. Though Zak Snyder's ultra-slick visuals might be what's needed also to beef this thing up and give it the epic look of Watchmen. But without a Cameron or Del Toro, the story will be hollow.

Looks like Warner Bros. has their work cut out for them tremendously. They need to give a few other DC superheros their own movie before they do a JL movie. Marvel already released a Hulk and Iron Man movie 4 years before releasing "The Avengers." But so far, they only have a Green Lantern (and implied that a sequel is coming) and Superman, and the Superman movie hasn't even been released yet. It's been confirmed that the new Batman's first appearance will be in the JL film, which is going to be odd.

Will the new Batman even have a proper origin story when he gets his own film? With only a few years between his first appearance in the JL film and Nolan's TDKR, he's got a lot to live up to, and so does any actor playing a Batman villain as well as any set designer or director.

Although, I think they might be able to pull it off. Superhero movies these days are filmed mostly in front of a blue-screen.

It's a given that Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and The Flash will star in the movie.

Maybe they'll keep it as 5 so that everyone can have a fair share of screen time, but it would be nice to see Aquaman and Martial Manhunter included since they're founding members as well.

For future films, I'd love to see Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Zatanna, Vixen, Huntress and The Question in prominent roles.

The movies would have to at least be 2 and a half hours each so that everyone gets a chance to shine.

I can see Zack Snyder getting at least a producer credit on this.
