First IRON MAN 3 Trailer Reveals The Mandarin, Explosions & Discontent

James Marsh, Asian Editor
The first trailer has arrived for next summer's Iron Man 3, and it shows Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) struggling to get over the "events in New York" with his buddies, The Avengers, that had audiences around the world going ga-ga. We see Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in peril, Jim Rhodes (Don Cheadle) looking all concerned, numerous generations of Iron Man suits exploding all over the place, as Ben Kingsley's The Mandarin declares in no uncertain terms that "Heroes...there is no such thing."

We get a glimpse of Guy Pearce too, but the biggest question here is, in the wake of the behemoth that was The Avengers, does the Marvel superhero juggernaut have the energy to keep one-upping itself? Alternatively, will a concerted effort to down-scale individual entries in the build-up to The Avengers 2 just leave fans dissatisfied now the bar has been raised so high? Shane Black's Iron Man 3, due out next May, seems like more of the same from this first trailer, but is that going to be enough?

    Iron Man Rises.

  • TheGhostOfGriffinMill

Shane Black REALLY dislikes modern architecture on hillsides.

  • Hiroaki Johnson

I hope it's entertaining, but that trailer seemed really sloppy to me.

I liked a lot of things about this trailer. The tone seems to be dead-serious but I guess things are going to get really ugly. Either way, I'm sure it'll make up for IM2
