A Bit Of Whoop Ass From Donnie Yen's SPECIAL IDENTITY

Todd Brown, Founder and Editor
Though news from upcoming Donnie Yen star vehicle Special Identity has been dominated by on-set turmoil - Yen and original co-star Vincent Zhao clashed on set, leading to Zhao being replaced by Andy On and a whole lot of public mud slinging - things are now wrapping up, meaning it's time to focus on Donnie doing what Donnie does best: Whupping ass.

A variety of behind the scenes shots and a few images that appear to be actual stills have turned up over the past while and we've culled three of our favorite stills in the gallery below. Yep, he's bringing it.

it is interesting, how Donnie and Andy got along with one another))))) they have already worked together, but I guess, working with Andy would be more beneficial for Donnie anyway - Andy is younger, more modest and flexible. Can't wait Special Identity to be released! Why the hell so long?!

The movie ran into trouble a while back but it's now in post-production. We should be seeing it this year.

this movie might be donnies best because he produced this movie by himself, and he hired the writer who wrote warlords and bodyguards and assassins, he said this will be kinda a like spl and flashpoint.

That is one kick-ass image. That image alone makes me want to see this movie.

  • DooK

The film wrapped up in early May and has since undergone post-production. Should be completed at some point very soon.

And do you know if the ICEMAN COMETH has started shooting ?

  • tman418

He still needs to shoot Ip Man 3D, so that might be put off until then. Plus, I think his IMAX 3D film "The Monkey King" is still in post-production. They haven't even released a proper trailer for that movie yet, except for the type of trailer with a fancy background and all the actors names flying in your face.

  • DooK

Ip Man 3 won't start production until in early 2013 so Donnie's got time to do one another film. What that will be is uncertain in the current.

Nothing so far. There was a rumor 2 months ago that the idea of an Iceman Cometh remake was going to be scrapped due to investment problems. Seems like it may go that route but you never know.

There's been talks of other possible projects for Donnie though, such as a remake of Tony Scott's The Last Boy Scout and a re-teaming of Donnie and MMA champion Cung Le.

  • Qinlong

Thanks for the info.Plus isn't he in another New Year comedy with Louis Koo et al. ?

  • DooK

Yeah, All's Well Ends Well 2012. It's already out on DVD and Bluray.

  • Qinlong

Oh ok, I heard of it as Eigth Hapiness, so I thought it was another film for next New year
