SOMEBODY UP THERE LIKES ME Gets Picked Up, Actors Celebrate, Bong-Style

Peter Martin, Managing Editor

Bob Byington's indie comedy Somebody Up There Likes Me debuted at SXSW this spring to generally positive reaction, and has now been acquired for distribution by Tribeca Film, according to Indiewire. The company plans a spring 2013 release.

To celebrate, Nick Offerman (who also produced), Alison Brie, and Megan Mullaly got together and made a promotional video ... in between bong hits, that is. You can watch the slyly amusing video below.

In the film, time stands still for years ... and years ... and years, as best friends Max (Keith Poulson) and Sal (Offerman) deal with life and their shared love for the lovely, betwitching Lyla (Jess Weixler). I thought it was a pleasant-enough comedy that only truly comes alive when Offerman is on screen. Still, I enjoyed it far more than I did Byington's first feature, RSO (Registered Sex Offender).

Tribeca Film states that "a strong U.S. and Canada Festival run is set for pre-release," so you might want to keep an eye out for it.
