Puri Jagannadh & Ravi Teja Team Up For DEVUDU CHESINA MANUSHULU
Hot Tollywood director Puri Jagannadh is back with his follow up to his massive hit The Businessman. This time around, rather than his lucky charm, Mahesh Babu, Jagannadh has recruited one of the Telugu film industry's most beloved and lovable heroes, Mass Raja Ravi Teja. The new film is titled Devudu Chesina Manushulu (దేవుడు చేసిన మనుషులు), and looks from the trailer to be a pretty standard masala potboiler.
Honestly, without the involvement of Ravi Teja and Jagannadh I wouldn't be terribly interested based on this trailer, but they make this worth keeping an eye on. Puri Jagannadh has been on quite a streak for the last half decade or so starting with Pokiri, this film on which Salman Khan's Wanted was based. More recently his Hindi debut, Buddah Hoga Tera Baap, was a big audience and critical hit, and the aforementioned The Businessman seems to have smashed a ton of Telugu box office records (South Indian box office numbers are practically impossible to verify, so I'm just going by what reports I can find). Ravi Teja, meanwhile, is a box office darling and has a string of hits a mile long. He also has a goofy charm that is something like Akshay Kumar on crack. I love the guy.
The trailer has all of the requisite elements for masala success, but it just seems to be lacking that something special that Jagannadh is capable of delivering. I hope I'm wrong, and that the film delivers beyond my expectations. Decide for yourself with the trailer below.
