One of the most critically acclaimed indie directors of our time is bringing one of the most iconic science fiction figures of all time to the small screen, which raises a certain obvious question.

Yes, Nicolas Winding Refn (Pusher, Drive, Only God Forgives) will both direct and produce a new television series of Barbarella but who should play the title character? Who can take over for Jane Fonda and fill the fuzzy bikini? And, of course, how long will it take for Refn to find a part for his Drive, Only God Forgives and Logan's Run star Ryan Gosling?

Whoever plays Barbarella will have to be sexy / attractive to a wide base. I have faith in Refn's generally excellent casting talent, so I will be very interested in who gets chosen as the leading lady.
