The second major volley in the 2012 superhero wars launches soon and with Marvel's The Avengers already proving a major, major hit do Christopher Nolan and DC have enough in the tank to take back the crown as the most popular and acclaimed superhero series with The Dark Knight Rises?
They're certainly trying to do the job with their marketing, a new teaser for the film arriving today and featuring a new nugget or two of fresh footage. This is such dark and dour stuff that in other circumstances I wouldn't think it would play to a huge audience but riding the success of the previous entries - and the simple fact that dark or not, it looks great - this is sure to be a massive hit.
