Full Trailer For Gordon Chan's Hong Kong Action-Horror THE FOUR

Todd Brown, Founder and Editor
Fist Of Legend director Gordon Chan will soon be bringing a cast of Colin Chou, Anthony Wong, Crystal Liu, Deng Chao and Ronald Cheng to the big screen with The Four - a fresh adaptation of popular story The Four Constables.

An undercover agent is assigned by his corrupt chief to infiltrate a rival department and sabotage their investigation of counterfeit currency. What he discovers is the counterfeiter's real plan. To overthrow the capital. Not by flooding it with funny money, but with an army of undead.

Fusing elements of action and horror together, it looks like Chan is aiming to take a trip back to Hong Kong's glory years and the days when these sorts of hybrid films - think The Bride With White Hair - were a regular event.

A first teaser showed up a while back and has now been followed by a full trailer. Check it out below.

haha I remember this movie being announced like three or four years ago. Took them long enough. is this the one that had a naming dispute, something about "Four Marshals" being the title for both a movie by guo qun-shu and gordon chan?

The trailer somehow reminds me of the Fantastic Four and X-Men, perhaps because of the CGI and that girl on the wheelchair like professor X and seems to have Sue Storm power. And maybe Collin Chou is the Ancient Chinese Ben Grimm (with tatoos not stones). So, Is "The Four" a respond of Hongkong's cinema to the blockbluster superheroes genre from Hollywood based on ancient chinese legend about warriors w/ superhuman abilities?. However, the trailer shows this film is not for children since the CGI is too much. Nice idea tho.

Corrections, what I should say in the last paragraph : the trailer shows this film is not for children but the CGI is too much (for adult)

  • Seasons

Why can't they use more practical effects, like in the old days, which they do so well?! Too much CGI to get a good feel about this one.

  • Snail

Cool tidbit: - recognize the 'Dragon TIger Gate' and 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' score applied to the trailer.

This should be fun to see. Colin Chou looks badass as always. However, Ronald Cheng's presence as I mentioned before on this site ruins the authenticity of this film just a tad bit. Hoping for the best with this flick; the visuals are great!
