The ALAN PARTRIDGE Movie Flies Again!

Alan Partridge is finally coming to the big screen.

The character that put Steve Coogan on the map - to say nothing of In The Loop and Veep creator Armando Iannucci who has been in on the Partridge act from the very beginning - has been long rumored to be headed for the big screen and apparently it's finally happening.

Iannucci told Empire in a new interview that "It's just about all come together now, so that'll be shot later in the year." Father Ted director Declan Lowney will direct.

For the unfamiliar, Alan Partridge is one of the truly great creations of British comedy. The character first turned up as the sportscaster in mock news series The Day Today before - in his fictional history - he went on to host daytime talk show Knowing Me, Knowing You for one season. When that show was 'canceled' the shell shocked Partridge moved on to host a regional radio talk show while trying to claw his way back to TV, that phase of his career providing the basis for two seasons of I'm Alan Partridge. Rumors have floated about a Partridge movie literally for years but other than a recent Australian backed web series the character has been absent from screens for quite a while with Coogan at times seeming as though he wanted to distance himself from his most famous creation.
