Latest News On Studio Ghibli's New Projects By Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Goro Miyazaki!
As reported previously, Hayao Miyazaki has commenced work on a new film that is a biography or autobiography, and won't be "the sort of work that everyone in the audience can relax and watch"; while Isao Takahata (GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES, MY NEIGHBORS THE YAMADAS) is also working on a feature film, his first in 12 years, which is based on the classic Japanese tale about a princess who was discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a bamboo plant.
Now ANN has just reported the latest news on these films' progress and also on the new project by Goro Miyazaki: Hayao Miyazaki is planning to have his film completed in 1 and a half years' time, but stated that he does not know what may happen to the world during this time, referring to natural disasters and political changes. It appears that Isao Takahata's new project may also be completed around that time. Goro Miyazaki (TALES FROM EARTHSEA and FROM UP ON POPPY HILL), on the other hand, is planning a samurai period anime set in Japan during the Middle Ages.
