It has been a long time coming but Korean science fiction anthology project The Doomsday Book is finally complete and coming to Korean cinemas in March.

Originally announced as a three part anthology six years ago with Yim Pil-sung (Antarctic Journal), Kim Ji-woon (I Saw The Devil) and Han Jae-rim (Rules Of Dating) the project seemingly fell apart shortly after Yim and Kim had shot their segments. Han's piece was never shot and the assumption was that with only two thirds complete the project would never be released.

Not so. Things restarted quietly with Yim and Kim collaborating on a new third installment to the trilogy with Yim as the lead director and Kim in more of a support / 'guest director' role and the project has been completed.

Two acclaimed Korean directors unfurl three unique stories of human self-destruction in the modern high-tech era. In a hope to restore the humane compassion in the insusceptible modern age, the film displays an alternative form of genuine humanity. And thus you are stepping into the world of future, where a series of unexpected stories awaits you. All these stories originate from the earth. From the very earth you live on.

The Doomsday Book will screen as part of the European Film Market and the first still above has been released in anticipation of that.
