Ladies & Gents, I Present To You: HERO HITLER IN LOVE

I've been watching progress of Hero Hitler in Love for several weeks in stunned silence, but I can remain silent no more, at least not now that there's a proper trailer. There have been a few geek sites that have picked up on the film, but not one of them has had anything longer than a teaser online, until now...

Hero Hitler in Love is an upcoming  Punjabi film produced by and starring Punjabi pop singer, Babbu Maan. Maan has made many other films, but this seems to be his magnum opus.  Check out the synopsis:
"Hero Hitler in love revolves around Hitler (Babbu Maan) who lives in his village Ishqpura. Hitler is a man with unique and different thoughts who loves his fellow villagers and helps them unite with their soul mates. Hitler falls in love with Sahiban (Mouni Roy) who lives in Pakistan and decides to bring her to his village. Hitler believes in solving the problems by talking about them but when something crosses the line he decides to become real Adolf Hitler. Hitler loves car racing but when he is set up to fail in the Asian car racing competition he decides to take revenge. The story shapes how Hitler takes his revenge and fights to win his girl and reunite both the nations."
Okay, so he wants to become a REAL Adolf Hitler. I'm not even sure that that means. As I've highlighted before on these pages, the history between India and Nazi Germany is a tangled one, and the perception among a few Indians regarding Adolf Hitler is a bit askew from what we think here.  When asked about the title of the film, Maan replied:
"We should not look at Hitler of Germany but the connotation of the word as it is applied in India, here it is used for irony and perhaps provocation but my filmmaking team felt that it was the right title for it and I agree."
Well, I'll let you all be the judge of that.  This trailer includes car racing, lots of song and dance, and some wicked Punjabi Sikh fighting skills.
