TIFF 2011: Official Sales Art For THE RAID
Those who have been keeping an eye on the progress of The Raid - the follow up film from Gareth Evans and Iko Uwais, the director and star of Merantau - know that today was the day that we initially intended to premiere the trailer for the film online. Unfortunately there has been a bit of a delay in getting the trailer locked down and so that's going to have to wait for a little bit longer yet but, in the meantime, here's your first look at the official sales art for the picture, which will very likely also be the official Indonesian poster as well.
The poster art was created by Twitch's very own Swarez and fans who can't wait to see Uwais in action again - at least fans in Toronto - won't have to for very long witht he film premiering this coming Thursday as the opening night feature of the Midnight Madness program at the Toronto International Film Festival.Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the rundown apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building's lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the 6th floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission. Director Gareth Evans (Merantau) and rising martial arts star Iko Uwais reunite in this adrenaline-fueled action film.
