Michael Shannon Does His Thing In The Trailer For TAKE SHELTER

Ben Umstead, East Coast Editor
Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter gathered a lot of momentum this past Sundance where Sony Pictures Classics snapped it up for U.S. release (this October), and just over the weekend it won top honors at Critics' Week in Cannes. And now we've got the trailer that shows just what Nichols and his lead Michael Shannon have got up their sleeves in this tale of possible-apocalypse.

And sweeping aside the easy trailer tactic of prestigious pull quotes hyping the film, oh boy, does this promise to be something quite special. Not only does this look to be the crown jewel on Shannon's already razzle-dazzle madcap career, the film seems eerily relevant and timely on a number of levels -- environmentally, existentially, psychologically... you name it. Yahoo is keeping the trailer nice and warm for us, and it's embedded below or linked in HD.
