There is a long, long tradition of high quality fantasy film in the Czech Republic, with artists from that nation pioneering many animation and effects techniques to bring classic stories - Jules Verne was a local favorite - to the big screen. And the latest to enter into that tradition is Tomáš Krejčí's The Last of Aporver.

A fantasy picture that looks to be aiming for a classic fairy tale feel - and I mean the real fairy tales, not the Disney versions - this one looks to be aiming for a young teen audience with plenty to offer older viewers as well. Here's the official synopsis:

This fantasy film combining live actors with animated and computer-generated settings tells the story of a boy, Rybli, and a girl, Maysu, who save the world of Aporver from destruction...
One never knows whose heart can save the whole world...
Some early - and very rough - concept work made the rounds a while back mistakenly labeled as a first trailer but now the first proper, completed bit of work has been released and the extra time spent buffing and polishing has made a world of difference. This is very impressive stuff. Check it below.
