Well, Peter Jackson is having one hell of a week. First he had to deal with a slew of international actors' unions boycotting The Hobbit, a move that has him threatening to take the production away from New Zealand. And now his Portsmouth Miniatures Studio - the facility Jackson owns and used to create the miniature effects for the Lord of the Rings movies as well as King Kong and was planning to use for The Hobbit - has burned to the ground in a major blaze.

Fire investigators will spend the next day or so trying to determine the cause of the blaze but, for the time being, the fire is not being considered suspicious. Jackson's crew are not currently commenting on what may have been lost in the blaze but if the facility was used for warehousing as well as creation the losses could be substantial.
