David Gordon Green's SUSPIRIA Remake (Finally) Gets The Go Ahead From Argento.

Todd Brown, Founder and Editor
Word of David Gordon Green's proposed remake of Dario Argento's Suspiria first began to make the rounds quite a while ago and at the time it appeared things would be moving ahead quickly. Not so much. Holding up the project was the success of Pineapple Express - which led to a flurry of interest in Green from the major studios - and Argento himself, who held rights to the original. Both issues are now resolved.

Producer Marco Morabito has confirmed via Italian website Bad Taste that the project is moving ahead with Green at the helm following nine months of discussions with, Argento who finally released the rights because he is "convinced that his movie is a masterpiece and can't be overshadowed."

Argento believes this about virtually everything he's ever done - including, no doubt, the coffee he brewed this morning - but in this case he is probably actually correct. Honestly, though, Green is such a distinctive film maker himself that I sincerely doubt his goal is to "overshadow" Argento in any way but rather to create his own distinct riff on the piece.
