A very, VERY NSFW trailer for "LIFE AND DEATH OF A PORNO GANG"

Really, is there a trailer category above "red-band"? We might need it...

Through the site of the Imagine Festival (formerly known as the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival) I learned about the trailer for the Serbian shocker "Life and Death of a Porno Gang".

With a title like that, you will NOT be surprised that this trailer is nowhere near to be considered "Safe For Work". What might surprise you though is exactly how much NSFW this one is. We have rampant nudity, inserts of hardcore, bestiality and let's not forget the poor guy who gets beheaded with a chainsaw. You have been warned.

What might also surprise you though is that the film itself is actually pretty good. Looking at both this and "A Serbian Film" you might be forgiven for thinking this was just a national match about who could fit the highest number of shocking images in a film, but when "Life and Death of a Porno Gang" screened at the Imagine Festival, it even was a bit of a crowdpleaser. It earned an average rating of 7.1 out of 10 in Amsterdam, this from an audience with little patience for artsy-fartsy experimentism.

If you don't believe me, here is a quote from Fantasia's head of International Programming Mitch Davis:

Simply put, this is the gutsiest, most shocking film of 2009. It is to Serbian culture what CLOCKWORK ORANGE was to Great Britain. With this film, about a traveling "porno cabaret" who travel from village to village performing unusual live sex acts as a means of sexual confrontation, before taking their disciplines into darker, deadlier places, writer/ director Mladen Djordjevic joins ranks with Gaspar Noé, Lars Von Trier, Takashi Miike and Michael Haneke as one of the most daring and provocative filmmakers working today.

Despite the extreme imagery it won huge critical acclaim in its home country and at the few festivals that dared show it. Make of that what you will, for now here is the trailer.

Frankly I was surprised to see this on YouTube, especially when you consider that Linni Meister wasn't allowed to show her bare ass without any digital masking last year.

And I'd thought that with the word "porno" in the title it would set off all of YouTube's alerts the moment it was uploaded. Ah well...

Any idea when we'll see either of these films in North America?
