Update on Paddy Breathnach's SHROOMS

FOR TRAILER, SEE THE BOTTOM OF THIS ARTICLE

The official website for Paddy Breathnach's Shrooms is now online, although at present it's just a home page. The movie is scheduled to have its world première at the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) in Scotland on August 23rd at 11:59 p.m., and to subsequently be screened there on August 25th at 10:15 p.m.. It's scheduled to be screened at FrightFest in London, England on August 24th (technically, August 25th) at 12:15 a.m.. Vertigo Films Limited is scheduled to release it theatrically in the U.K. on November 9th. Capitol Films Limited is the international sales agent for it.

The screenplay for Shrooms was written by Pearse Elliott. According to the website of the Irish Film Board (Bord Scannán na hÉireann) - "IFB" for short - the movie stars Lindsey Haun, Jack Huston, Max Kasch, Maya Hazen, Alice Greczyn, Rob Hoffman, Don Wycherley, and Sean McGinley.

Here's a description of Shrooms from the EIFF website: "Bad idea 1: Travel all the way to an unfamiliar country with the sole intention of ingesting hallucinogens. Bad idea 2: Take along a gang of people you don't like or trust very much. Bad idea 3: Locate this experiment in a dank, dense woodland which also houses a gloomy abandoned church orphanage where horrible things have been done to a great many children over the years... You could try to take this delirious Irish horror seriously, by reading in a subtext about the mistreatment of vulnerable children within the ranks of the Catholic church. Or you could just enjoy the off-colour humour, the wildly creepy atmosphere and the the out-there violence. Think The Blair Witch Project with added psychedelics."
